Artist's Description
Getting up close and personal, I was able to take this intimate photo of an elephant. It seems to be in deep thought as its eyes are shut. Its skin is incredibly textured, covered in years of wrinkles and tough laden sandalwood-type of skin. There is something stately and grand about the elephant. It is not only their big size but somehow the quiet respectful solitude it carries itself with. Elephants remind me of the story of the “Five Blind Men and the Elephant.” It is so insightful and I recommend looking it up. Can you see the big picture with the little bit that you have been shown?

Mary Mikawoz is a Canadian of Polish descent who follows in the footsteps of a number of artists and photographers in the family. She has studied photography and art from places like Champlain College in Montreal to Algonquin College in Ottawa to the Art Gallery School in Winnipeg. Mary graduated from the University of Manitoba and Red River College. When it comes to photography, Mary feels as if she is inspired by God or the Universe.
