I took this photograph because I like to look at the microcosm of life sometimes. I love the flow of these roots and how they are in relation to one another. Plus, I especially like the way the green growth is such a contrast to the brown roots and the rich bronze soil. To me…it is rich and beautiful in an intriguing way..
Mary Mikawoz is a Canadian of Polish descent who follows in the footsteps of a number of artists and photographers in the family. She has studied photography and art from places like Champlain College in Montreal to Algonquin College in Ottawa to the Art Gallery School in Winnipeg.
